To lead the teams to maximize the reliability, safety and efficiency of the Power Plant and to minimize disruptions to supply.
•Action the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) procedures to ensure a safe work environment. Lead and motivate the team to achieve excellence in (HSE) performance
•Authorize Sub-area access: Provide Safety Documents by administering the SAPP Safety Rules for all work executed within the Power Plant, ensuring thorough risk analysis is performed and activities are audited
•Respond to non-routine and emergency HSE situations, including workplace injuries
•Undertake thorough work site inspections and risk assessments
•Deliver clear, actionable HSE review reports, execute the necessary follow-up action
•Execute practice drills for the Emergency Response Plan
•Lead a Shift-wide improvement in HSE performance
•Contribute to the development of the HSE systems: undertake root cause analysis; review the HSE plan and formulate proposals for improvement; undertake projects to drive excellence in HSE
•Execute recycling or improvement projects to reduce waste of resources (energy, compressed air)
•Plan, organize and control the shift to safely deliver a smooth, uninterrupted power supply
•Direct daily Shift activities and ensure safety, quality and high productivity
•Apply logic, critical thinking and engineering practice to solve problems
•Perform the role of Incident Controller for the Plant (in the case of faults or emergencies, take charge, direct operations, make decisions)
•Apply technical skills and industry experience to recommend ways to improve production performance
•Monitor, control and conserve resources to minimize waste and maximize profits
•Optimize resource usage and minimize waste (monitor PPE usage; conserve small tools, operate in minimum gas consumption mode)
•Control time and attendance while maintaining accurate SAP records; control costs
•Operate equipment and production systems to comply with budgets
•Identify ways to decrease costs and increase productivity or resource-utilization
•Lead and motivate the team to deliver on the Shift, the area and the departmental goals
•Establish self as leader of the team
•Direct the team to safely deliver against the Work Plan
