• Provide first-level applications support: Resolve
problems and answer questions related to the RDBMS and platform environment
(e.g., Unix, Windows, Linux, z/OS); contact vendor support when necessary;
facilitate application development and client problem resolution with optimum
speed and efficiency.
• Support different systems such as ESRI, API + any
programming language

• RDBMS performance monitoring and tuning: Closely
monitor performance; identify problems and implement solutions; ensure the
database is running at optimum speed and efficiency.
• Maintain database backup/recovery environment: Assure
that data recovery time objectives are established and met; verify
implementation of correct backup strategy; develop recovery procedures; support
recovery from loss of data caused by user or system error; respond quickly to
refresh data.
• Sys admin for deferent Systems and DBs (Oracle, SQL
Server and MySQL).
• Facilitate knowledge sharing by creating and
maintaining comprehensive documentation
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve the
engineering infrastructure.
• Strong team player with a high degree of
self-motivation and the ability to lead additional technical resources to meet
the project requirements.
• Document the design, operation and troubleshooting of
technology platforms and procedures.
• Expert on RFP writing and the user requirement.
• Installs revised or new systems by proposing
specifications and flowcharts; recommending optimum access techniques;
coordinating installation requirements.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and
upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as
necessary.
• Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure
hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in
accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
• Install and configure systems such as supports GIS
infrastructure applications.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration
procedures. Contribute to and maintain system standards.
• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible
automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that
leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
• Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in
Unix and Microsoft.
• Writing System and database documentation, including
data standards, procedures and definitions
• Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and
weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
