Establishment and implementation of LRC/Library and information policies and procedures
 Development of convenient, accessible LRC and information services
 Analysis and evaluation of LRC and information services, and technology requirements
 Preparation of reports related to LRC and information services, technology and, resources and activities
 Provision of effective access to LRC collections and resources
 Response to daily on-site requests for Bachelor degree in Libraries Sciences or related fields
 The ability to speak and write fluently in English and Arabic.
 Minimum of five years professional work experience in library management preferably in the GCC.
 Understanding of current issues and emerging technologies in academic librarianship.
 Ability to maintain effective working relations with the internal and external community in a multicultural, multi ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
 Excellent leadership, oral interpersonal communication, negotiation skills, team building and resource development skills
 Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail
 Ability to present ideas and concepts in business friendly and user friendly language
 Full commitment in providing superb customer service through innovative approaches and the ability to respond to the needs of students, faculty and staff
 Experience writing and presenting reports, briefing materials and presentations for a range of audiences including senior management
 A creative and analytical thinking style, applying tenacity in the face of obstacles.
 A pro-active approach to work and problem solving, and the ability to spot and deal with issues as they occur.

 Training of LRC users on various aspects of the center
 Implementation and maintenance of a borrowing service for both book and audiovisual materials
 Maintenance of circulation files, proceedings and statistics
 Acquisition of research resources in all fields of knowledge relevant to the university and organization of these resources according the LRC information system
 Provision of equipment and supplies necessary for the LRC and organizing their use
 Bibliographic documentation of the intellectual production in the Sultanate and the GCC countries in coordination with the concerned bodies in and outside the Sultanate
 Exchanging information, published materials and periodicals with the LRCs/libraries of the Arab and Foreign universities
 Cataloguing books and other classified materials available in the LRC and maintaining the integrity of the catalogue
 Planning and implementing training and orientation programs for the students and researchers about using the LRC
 To set and oversee all the related matters of his/her center operationally and strategically such as employment affairs,  departmental budget estimate, human resource requirements, annual activities, equipment/resources requirements,
 To prepare an annual report on the progress of the activities of the department and submit it to the dean of student affairs
 Maintaining accurate financial records related to LRC if applicable.
 Liaise with curriculum staff on the provision of resources to support their course, be able to appraise realistic curriculum requirements and use negotiating and influencing skills to ensure resources are current and relevant to student and lecturers needs.
 Identify and understand students’ needs for resources and be able to research and source relevant information in a variety of formats both print and electronic.
 Acquire and maintain a good knowledge of information sources and literature of subject areas relevant to the needs of the students, in order to help them find information from a variety of sources, both print and electronic and to encourage the use of current and emerging technologies to support the delivery of the curriculum.
 Ensure all data on manual and computerized records is accurate and up to date and provide accurate and timely reports as and when required.
 Be flexible in the distribution of hours required at particular points in each semester to support service demands.
 Arrange the work on a rota basis at other UOB campus and ensure consistent cover for afternoon, evening working and university events.
