Job Purpose
• To monitor, control and supervise overall plant chemistry.
• To efficiently carry out the operation of the laboratory during the duty by carrying out all regular tests on samples drawn at regular intervals from fuel, water, steam, air, effluents and chemicals; advise the Shift Supervisor/Engineer of the CCGT plant located at Ibri and Sohar, for modifications in chemical dosing as per test results; record and maintain test data.
• To support the senior staff to monitor, control and maintain the Power Plant systems within specification by sampling, analyzing and controlling Plant chemistry.
• To work in Chemical laboratory, water treatment plant, Sewage treatment plant and require to do daily routine checks to plant boilers.
Key Responsibilities
• Draw samples of fuel, water, steam, air, flue gases, chemicals ...etc. at frequent intervals and carry out standard tests; record and maintain test results.
• Study test results and advise the operation staff of changes in chemical dosing ratios in order to ensure quality of water/steam/effluents with in specified parameters and optimize the consumption of bulk chemicals.
• Ensure that samples are drawn correctly in approved containers and transported and stored as per procedures.
• Check test equipment to evaluate the precision and accuracy of all equipment and test instruments.
• Indent for chemicals and other consumables in all laboratories; ensure its proper storage and use as per standard operating procedures and safety norms.
• Maintain records of all tests & analysis.
• Provide inputs to operations and maintenance team.
• Ensure that appropriate quality and quantity consumables and equipment are provided by corporate procurement services / stores. ? Regularize procurement & renewal of permits.
Qualifications
• Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering ? 3 Year- Diploma in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
Experience
• 7 years for Degree holder of Power Plant Chemistry operational experience
• 10 years for Diploma holder of Power Plant Chemistry operational experience
