Purpose of role:Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
The position will have no direct reports. This position reports to the foreman & supervisor. Peers include other machinists and shop floor staff.
- Read and understand component dimensional drawings, sketches, specifications given in routing file.
- Ensure the given material is comply BOM and routing requirements
- Traceability and identification stamping of all machined components as per BOM and routing.
- Should be conversant with cutting tool selection and parameters.
- Carry out the jobs in the tolerances/specifications required and should be able to use micrometer and Bore Gauges for initial quality checks and full dimensional inspection of the jobs carried out.
- Report NCRs immediately to the section foreman and supervisors
- Obtaining final routing sign off after completion of each operation.
- Maintain the machine in good working condition as described in the Operator’s
- Manual by daily checking the machine for lubrication oil level, hydraulic oil level, coolants etc and fill the daily maintenance checklist before starting operating the machine.
- Troubleshooting machine problems and reporting the same to Department Head for further action.
- Improve efficiency and productivity and produce quality jobs with zero defects.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the workshop.
- Aware of the importance of machine guards and their locations, use of proper PPE to be worn (particularly for eye protection) while engaged in machining activity.
- Attend daily toolbox meeting.
- Treat safety as a number one priority at all times.
