A western upstream oil and gas company is seeking an Operations Geologist with at least 5 years’ experience from operations and/ or wellsite geology in the oil & gas industry.
In addition to operations experience and good communication skills, the successful candidate is expected to have good knowledge of Oman’s regional geology, geological formations and producing reservoirs in Oman.
Job responsibilities
Operations Geologist would play a key role in detail well planning and execution, as well as being the main communication link between Drilling and Subsurface/ Exploration teams. Main task would be to work on preparation for drilling new wells, managing geological operations and service contractors while drilling, and completion of Final Well Report and selection of post well analysis services.
Job responsibilities:
- Proactively provide geotechnical support to design and execute a well plan to meet development, appraisal and/ or exploration well objectives
- Prepare data acquisition program and provide an input in formation evaluation tenders (Mudlogging, Wireline Logging, Coring and LWD)
- Provide G&G input into drilling program
- Manage and QA formation evaluation contracts and their services
- Provide office based technical support to the wellsite geologist and the rig team
- Logistical support for the formation evaluation service providers
- Receipt of data from all formation evaluation contractors
- Focal point for distribution of daily geological reports, mudlogs, and other data from the rig to partners and government
- Cost control for formation evaluation services
- Preparation of Final Well Report
- Screening and selection of post well analysis services
