General Description of Role and Responsibilities:
- Conduct traffic impact assessments, traffic flow analyses, and safety studies to understand transportation needs and identify potential issues.
- Design transportation infrastructure, including roadways, intersections, traffic signals, and pedestrian facilities, while considering factors like capacity, safety, and sustainability.
- Work on public transit projects, including bus rapid transit (BRT) and light rail systems, to improve mass transit options and reduce traffic congestion.
- Optimize traffic signal timing to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance safety.
- Develop parking management plans and strategies to optimize parking utilization in urban areas.
- Use transportation modeling software to simulate and predict traffic behaviour and make data-driven decisions.
- Consider environmental impacts and work on projects that reduce the carbon footprint of transportation systems.
- Identify and implement safety measures, such as road design modifications and traffic calming, to reduce accidents.
- Work closely with government agencies, municipalities, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure projects align with community needs and goals.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations and standards.
- Estimate project costs, prepare budgets, and assist with financial planning for transportation projects.
- Prepare detailed reports, plans, and technical documents for project proposals, permitting, and public presentations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the client and the line manager.
- This role reports to the program director.
