Role Purpose:
To manage company’s “license to operate” in order to meet compliance to regulatory legislation related to the plant’s environmental performance. To provide environmental support and advice to internal and external stakeholders as required and to ensure company’s environmental activities demonstrably meet applicable legal and other requirements. To raise environmental awareness level of staff, contractors and HAS residents. Assessing the environmental risks and propose mitigation measures.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Manage the requirements of regulatory environmental permits (ie “license to Operate”) in terms of ensuring that processes and the resulting environmental effects are within the limits set by Royal Decrees, Laws, & Ministerial Decisions.
2. Maintain a close working relationship with external
stakeholders and act as the company’s liaison with regulators on all environmental issues, permits and licences. Manage legislative requirements (and any updates/developments within) to maintain license to operate.
3. To coordinate, develop and manage and implement the company’s annual and strategic environmental plans to improve site and corporate performance.
4. To manage the wastes in the hazardous waste yard to ensure storage in an environmentally friendly manner and to identify appropriate disposal routes for them.
5. Manage company’s Environmental Aspects and Impact register.
6. Instigate the publication of company’s annual
environmental performance.
7. Responsible for the weekly, monthly and annual
environmental reports to various stake holders.
8. Maintain effective liaison with the regulatory authorities and ensure all reporting requirements are complied with, via use of either existing plant monitoring systems or external monitoring contracts.
9. Monitor environmental performance and tracking
non-conformances to ensure proper closure.
10. Conduct environmental awareness campaigns at all levels - staff, contractors, families and community.
11. Maintain fully up to date compendium of legal/permit requirements ensuring renewal before date of expiration.
12. Ensure plant environmental monitoring system meet regulatory reporting, bench-marking and environmental performance monitoring requirements
in liaison with QTE dept. of Affairs and Technical Advisor through networking.
13. Ensure that HSE business priorities are integrated with the site priorities to drive the organization to deliver short term and long term HSE performance.
14. Develop, maintain and implement site environmental procedures and practices within the HSE-MS.
15. Ensure gap closure plans are followed and progress is tracked to completion for HSE-MS, ISO 14001 and similar HSE related audits.
16. Ensure compliance to and renewals of Site Environmental Permit and Chemical Permits as a license to operate.
17. Develop and coach Environmental staff to the next higher level.
18. Manage chemical handling procedures and relevant MSDS.
