1. Provide management with timely information for timely decision-making
a. Set financial objectives for the Company in the long run on discussion with Board of Directors.
b. Plan, direct and control the financial and accounting activities of the Company.
c. Assist the management in reviewing the business plan
d. Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of financial data. This includes monthly management accounts and quarterly financial statements.
e. Lead & monitor the budgeting process
2. Manage the financial operation of the company in an optimal manner
a. Liaise with banks and other financial institutions for financial facilities.
b. Formulate policies and procedures for collection and recording.
c. Analyse working capital position and ensure efficient management of working capital
d. Approve payments in accordance with authority limits
e. Review adequacy of insurance, risk management and cash flow management.
3. Develop and oversee plans and programs related to accounts and finance controls
a. Develop & implement plans, practices and policies in financial control
b. Review credit policies to ensure maintenance financial discipline
4. Ensure financial discipline & appropriate reporting in all aspects of the Company’s operations.
a. Initiate cost savings and control measures
b. Review contracts pertaining to fixed expenses like insurance, rent, etc
c. Ensure integrity of the financial system and controls and act as the custodian of systems
d. Ensure application of uniform accounting policies.
e. Review financial statements of the company before forwarding them to the auditors.
f. Liaise with external auditors for timely completion of audit and discussion on principal issues identified by them.
5. Participate in financing activities
a. Analyse cost of debt from various financial institutions and banks.
b. Determine the optimal source of financing and lead negotiation of financing terms
c. Review and comment on financial aspects of the financing agreements
d. Decide on timing of utilisation of facilities obtained
6. Financial Regulations and compliances
a. Ensure that business plans/management reports are compliant with financial, taxation and other relevant laws
b. Liaise with legal advisors to ensure compliance with requisite government law / regulations
c. Review Tax return and allied documents prior to its submission
7. Maintain responsibility for the HR development and management of employees in the Finance Department
a. Hold charge as ultimate approving authority for all personnel related matters for Finance staff
b. Hold responsibility for ensuring development of career plans
c. Hold responsibility for evaluating and submitting training needs of Finance staff to Human Resources
